In my early days as a computer nerd, one of my favorite books was The Mac is Not a Typewriter. Still worth reading after all these years. I ended up becoming a software engineer instead of a graphic designer, but I remain fascinated by typography. So, of course, I enjoyed watching Helvetica, a film about the proliferation and legacy of one of the most ubiquitous typefaces (it’s on your iPhone’s home screen).
It’s not for everyone, but it’s a nice bit of brain candy if fonts are up your alley. There’s a trailer on YouTube, and you can watch the entire thing on iTunes.

Not sure if I’ll make it tonight, but there’s a show called Imaginary Friends opening at Gallery 1988 that will include some work by Scott Campbell. Looks very cool.
