Visiting the new California Academy of Sciences

The California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park was a fixture of my childhood. So many indelible memories, countless family outings, and a lifelong inspiration to discover, question and explore.

After a multi-year remodeling project, the academy opened back up on September 27, 2008. Luckily, my mom is a charter member, so we were able to visit two weeks early and check things out before the crowds hit.

I was able to visit again a few weeks ago with Erin and Peggy, my new mother-in-law, on a Stanford alumni night. Amazing building and a great mix of fun stuff, serious science and advocacy projects. Oh, and the new planetarium is amazing.
